2012 Successful Gold diggers

Successful Gold diggers?  What do you think?

Industrious Gold Diggers:

Women Who Made Their Own Money After Marrying Money

A simple search online will reveal the commonly held misconception that many black women are gold diggers. Gold Diggers of course come in many colors and temperaments, ranging from kind and coddling to bossy or even lazy. But we are not here today to judge whether being a gold digger itself is bad or good, or what a women should do once she snags that man with cash. We are hear to cast an eye on that rare breed of woman who binds her meal ticket in hold matrimony, then bleeds him dry in order to create her own empire.

This rare species —

"the Industrious Gold Digger"

 — does not sit idly by and get manicures once she has secured the ring. Nor does she nag her new husband to death in a grim attempt to hold on to her money bag. No. She takes that access to wealth and parlays it into a fortune of her own, so she can keep or leave the man at her bidding. Regardless of whether the relationship goes sour, The Industrious Gold Digger has used her mate as a stepping stone to her personally controlled economic power. Here are seven such women who have capitalized on marrying up.

Kimora Lee Simmons

Kimora Lee Simmons got a juicy divorce and child support settlement from her former husband Russell Simmons, but she was using their relationship to upgrade her career way before they hit the skids. She was named president and creative director of Phat Fashions several months before officially filing for divorce from her ex-husband. Although at the time the firm was no longer owned by Russell, it was his connections that got her into the company at such a high level. She has also used the exposure gained through their marriage to launch fragrances, a series of books, and a reality TV series. Let’s face it — she likely married for money at least in part, but Kimora has worked hard to extend her brand through her own efforts. It was smart to utilize her husband as a starting mechanism.

Rachel Roy

Rachel Roy is now a well-respected designer who creates beautiful clothes that are sold in the most luxurious stores in the world. But she started her career as an intern at Rocawear, where she caught the eye of Damon Dash when he still had money. After several years of dating, Roy married Dash despite his documented history of cheating. Can you blame her for using his cash while she could to start her own clothing line? She certainly has the design chops, as her frocks are gorgeous. Good for Roy for using Dash’s connections and capital to launch a lucrative brand of her own, that far outshines Rocawear today.

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian would be nobody today if she had not made her sex video with Ray-J. While she has was never married to Nick Cannon or Reggie Bush, or any of the other high profile black men she has been linked with, it is safe to say that she connected with them as a path towards fame from obscurity. It is certain that she never expected a sex video with a minor R&B star to be her ticket to fortune, but when her number came up, she ran with it. Millions of dollars later, it appears that dating all those rich black men was the perfect method of self-enrichment for Kim — and her entire family, which has been able to multiply her fame through their many endeavors.

Jennifer Williams

Jennifer Williams married her NBA baller hubby to gain access to the glamorous life, but she has plenty of positive personal attributes to fall back on. She graduated from college cum laude, and owns a fitness franchise in addition to being on the hit VH1 show “Basketball Wives.” Fame from the reality TV series has enabled her to launch her own lip gloss line, Lucid, in addition to extending her personal brand. She is certainly her own woman, but likely would never have made it this far were it not for her soon-to-be-former spouse. Kudos to her for cashing out on the position that her marriage afforded her, as Williams reaches out to explore even greener pastures — emotionally and financially.

Lisa-Wu

Wu was once married to Keith Sweat, and went on to wed former NFL player Ed Hartwell before joining the cast of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” Although no longer married to Ed or on the show, Lisa was able to stir the public’s interest in her through her marriage. Before her marriage granted her access to the show, no one had ever heard of her. It is as though she learned from her first failed marriage to a much more famous man that she had to make a name for herself rather than relying on her husband. Now that she is free and more famous, she has been exploring many options including acting. Maybe she didn’t make a fortune, but Wu did make something of herself.

Tory Burch

Tory Burch comes from a respectable middle class background, but her career really heated up after marrying the incredibly wealth financier Christopher Burch (who was her second millionaire match). During their union, Burch launched her eponymous line which has become a huge smash. Now that she is a runaway success, Burch has divorced her husband and has been linked to much more romantic figures like Lance Armstrong. If you are going to be an industrious gold digger, that’s the way to do it.

Georgina Chapman

Georgina Chapman is still married to her super-powerful husband, film producer extraordinaire Harvey Weinstein. The co-founder of the super-hot fashion line Marchesa unfortunately broke up Weinstein’s former marriage in order to snag him. In addition, it is a strange coincidence that she launched her high-end brand in the same year that he left his wife — 2004. Still, an industrious gold digger does what she has to do. Perhaps that is what attracts the powerful man to her side — the quest for power that they both
share.

 Shaunie O’Neal

When Shaunie O’Neal reached a divorce settlement with her ex-husband Shaquille, some thought the allegations of his cheating would lead this scorned woman to curl up in a corner and lick her wounds — lying on her hefty pile of alimony. But this was not the case. Shaunie very intelligently used knowledge of his affairs to secure a better settlement than would have been allowed by their existing pre-nuptial agreement. And of course she parlayed that fortune and the experience gained by being married to the NBA star into her “Basketball Wives” franchises. Now the executive producer of a few hit reality TV series, Shaunie is certainly an industrious gold digger who made good.

2012 Zimmerman’s Racist Rants = Jail Time

Is Zimmerman Racists?

Below is an article imposing Zimmerman--- in blunter terms.. is a racist? ??

What do you think about the racial profiling allegations allegations? Share your opinion!

BY MICHAEL COTTMAN, BLACKAMERICAWEB
It now appears that George Zimmerman has a history of spewing racially incendiary remarks – crude comments that could surface during his upcoming trial for killing unarmed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
A seven-year-old MySpace page offered a disturbing glimpse into Zimmerman’s thinking about Mexicans, his ex-wife and the police.
“I dont miss driving around scared to hit mexicans walkin on the side of the street, soft ass wanna be thugs messin with peoples cars when they aint around (what are you provin, that you can dent a car when no ones watchin) dont make you a man in my book,” Zimmerman wrote in a 2005 post.
“Workin 96 hours to get a decent pay check, gettin knifes pulled on you by every mexican you run into!”
The discovery of Zimmerman’s hateful tirade against Mexicans is particularly significant considering that racial profiling is at the heart of the Martin case. Zimmerman insists he acted in self-defense when he gunned down Martin on Feb. 26. He also claims he thought Martin, who was wearing a hoodie, was acting “suspicious” while walking from a neighborhood store.
Zimmerman’s social media offerings indicate that he has harbored some deep-seeded stereotypes regarding racial minorities and that he easily conjures the most contemptible images.
Since Zimmerman apparently feels that all Mexicans carry knives and are poised to confront unsuspecting residents, it’s not a stretch to believe that Zimmerman spotted Martin wearing a hoodie and followed him simply because he wrongly associated Martin’s clothing with Black thugs.
For Zimmerman, the stereotypical reference to Mexicans is so specific that it raises serious questions about his capacity to truthfully assess whether his life was really in danger when he ran into Martin on the streets of Sanford, Florida.
Does Zimmerman think that all Black men wearing hoodies are threatening and all Mexicans are out to stab him? Perhaps. And it certainly seems that Zimmerman sees a Black or Brown criminal around every corner.
Zimmerman’s family and friends insist that Zimmerman is not a racist. That was a hard sell a month ago – and it’s a much harder sell today.
“He’s the neighbor that everybody would want to have,” Robert Zimmerman, who appeared on CNN last month, said of his brother. “He goes out of his way to help people. He always has.”
I wouldn’t want Zimmerman for a neighbor. I’d have too many questions. What other racist outbursts are lurking in Zimmerman’s past? How many other bigoted remarks are waiting to be uncovered? And what possible defense can Zimmerman have for his prejudiced MySpace rant?
There’s really no plausible defense. There’s only an inner rage that is now public – an anger that is now known to potential jurors who could decide Zimmerman’s guilt or innocence.
This new revelation may be damaging to Zimmerman’s defense and it’s probably cost Zimmerman’s attorney a night or two of sleep already. If the prosecution can convince a jury that Zimmerman had a pattern of racist views leading up to shooting a Black teenager, then Zimmerman could spend time behind bars.
And for the women on a potential jury, I’m sure this nugget didn’t go unnoticed.
Zimmerman posted the following rant about his ex-fiancé – whom he referred to as an “ex-ho” after a domestic dispute alleging that he pushed the woman in August 2005.
“Im still free! The ex hoe tried her hardest, but the judge saw through it!” Zimmerman wrote.
And does Zimmerman have any Black buddies? Seven years ago, he also posted three photos of Black male friends on his MySpace page, but he joked: “Let security carry um out!”
I suppose Zimmerman can’t help himself. Even when he makes a feeble attempt at humor, he still associates Black men with law enforcement.

2012 Study: Same-Sex Parents Raise Better Kids?

Study: Same-Sex Parents Raise Well-Adjusted Kids.........

Researchers looked at information gleaned from 15 studies on more than 500 children, evaluating possible stigma, teasing and social isolation, adjustment and self-esteem, opposite gender role models, sexual orientation, and strengths.
Studies from 1981 to 1994, including 260 children reared by either heterosexual mothers or same-sex mothers after divorce, found no differences in intelligence, type or prevalence of psychiatric disorders, self-esteem, well-being, peer relationships, couple relationships, or parental stress.
"Some studies showed that single heterosexual parents' children have more difficulties than children who have parents of the same sex," Perrin says. "They did better in discipline, self-esteem, and had less psychosocial difficulties at home and at school."

Another study of 37 children of 27 divorced lesbian mothers and a similar number of children of heterosexual mothers found no differences in behavior, adjustment, gender identity, and peer relationships.

Equitable Division of Chores

Two other large studies involving more than 100 couples found that same-sex parents also had contact with extended family, had social support, and had a more equitable division of labor in the home.
"Lesbian couples share household responsibilities and chores more equitably," Perrin says. "And, the children of lesbian couples are less aggressive, more nurturing to peers, more tolerant of diversity, and more inclined to play with both boy's and girl's toys.
Children seem to adjust better when there is a more equal division of labor in the home and the parental relationship with the children had a higher rating, she says.
The combined data presented by Perrin showed that children whose parents are lesbian have no more problems than the rest of the children and actually may be more tolerant of differences, she says. There was suggestive evidence that there were more stresses due to the gender of same-sex parents, but the children also reported greater well-being, more nurturing, and a greater tolerance for differences.

2012 How to Avoid Baby Mama or Baby Daddy Drama with Your Ex

How to Avoid Baby Mama or Baby Daddy Drama with Your Ex!

Are you having problems with your baby daddy or baby mama? A child is such a beautiful thing ....but what do you do when your childs mom or dad play's childish games of "cat and mouse " with your child? What do you do when your 2 steps away from catching a case of domestic violence? What are your feelings on this? Share your baby daddy baby mama horror story, or just share your advice!   -Host

Breaking up with someone and staying civil is hard enough when it's just between the two of you, but when a child is involved, it can be a bit dicey. Having spent the last 13 years as a parent working with an ex to raise a child, these steps have made it easier to focus on what matters most-- our child.

1
Get rid of that label.
Stop referring to your child's parent as your "baby mama" or "baby daddy". View them as the other party involved in the creation of your little one. If the child is over the age of two, that term is definitely inappropriate.

2
Communicate with your ex.
Do not use your child as a walkie-talkie. Using your child as a go between can lead to disaster. Children often play sides when it comes to wanting things from their parents. Miscommunication can develop if a message is misconstrued whether intentionally or unintentionally. It's best if you two do the talking directly.

3
Keep it simple and straight forward.
Express what your needs or concerns for your child are while being specific and concise. Over doing things and indulging in longer than necessary conversations leave you open to disagreements and ill-feelings. These are not beneficial to the child and hamper the possibility of an amicable relationship with your ex.

4
Don't lead your ex on.
Speak only of the child. If your own personal matters must be discussed, it should be done solely due to scheduling concerns related to the child. As long as you are not doing anything that could cause harm to your child, your personal life is your own and your ex should no longer be a part of it. That is why he or she is called your ex.

5
Don't be the meanie.
Do not bash the other parent in the presence of your child. You don't have to be the best of buds, but you should at least be civil. A child can pick up on any animosity you hold for their mommy or daddy and will likely resent you for being the meanie.

6
Make it work for both parents.
Establish a schedule for visitations, attending sporting events, other extra curricular activities, doctor and dental visits. Whether it is court appointed or set by the two of you, it can be made flexible to suit all involved.

7
Keep them out of it.
Avoid getting your new partner involved in matters between you and your ex. If you are strictly about business with your ex, your new mate should feel no insecurity and therefore no need to interfere with the parental system you've set up with your ex.
The catch with this step is that your ex has to be respectful and do the same with his or her new partner.

8
Everyone has their place.
If you are taking the next step in the relationship with your new partner, assure your ex that no one will be taking his or her place. Make it certain that you have chosen someone who understands the importance of your child's relationship with the other parent, and make it known you're not looking for a replacement. If this seems tough, just remember that you wouldn't want to be replaced by a new mommy or daddy yourself.

9
Stick to your guns.
Being too lax can lead to your ex taking advantage of you. Don't be bullied, you're an adult, you're a parent and what you say matters too.

10
Be cool.
People are unpredictable. They might not want to be reasonable; they might not have a desire to get along. Just keep your composure and retrace your steps because your child is worth it.

2012 Marijuana

MARIJUANA

Whats your take on smoking marijuana in public? Do you believe that it should be allowed or not? How does this affect the future in regards to "drugs"? Black Love Talk wants to know the people's opinion! Comment & share your thoughts. -Black Love Talk 101

Marijuana is the most commonly abused illicit drug in the United States. It is a dry, shredded green and brown mix of flowers, stems, seeds, and leaves derived from the hemp plant Cannabis sativa. The main active chemical in marijuana is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC for short.

How is Marijuana Abused?

Marijuana is usually smoked as a cigarette (joint) or in a pipe. It is also smoked in blunts, which are cigars that have been emptied of tobacco and refilled with a mixture of marijuana and tobacco. This mode of delivery combines marijuana's active ingredients with nicotine and other harmful chemicals. Marijuana can also be mixed in food or brewed as a tea. As a more concentrated, resinous form, it is called hashish; and as a sticky black liquid, hash oil. Marijuana smoke has a pungent and distinctive, usually sweet-and-sour odor.

How Does Marijuana Affect the Brain?

Scientists have learned a great deal about how THC acts in the brain to produce its many effects. When someone smokes marijuana, THC rapidly passes from the lungs into the bloodstream, which carries the chemical to the brain and other organs throughout the body.
THC acts upon specific sites in the brain, called cannabinoid receptors, kicking off a series of cellular reactions that ultimately lead to the "high" that users experience when they smoke marijuana. Some brain areas have many cannabinoid receptors; others have few or none. The highest density of cannabinoid receptors are found in parts of the brain that influence pleasure, memory, thinking, concentrating, sensory and time perception, and coordinated movement.1
Not surprisingly, marijuana intoxication can cause distorted perceptions, impaired coordination, difficulty with thinking and problem solving, and problems with learning and memory. Research has shown that, in chronic users, marijuana's adverse impact on learning and memory can last for days or weeks after the acute effects of the drug wear off.2 As a result, someone who smokes marijuana every day may be functioning at a suboptimal intellectual level all of the time.
Research into the effects of long-term cannabis use on the structure of the brain has yielded inconsistent results. It may be that the effects are too subtle for reliable detection by current techniques. A similar challenge arises in studies of the effects of chronic marijuana use on brain function. Brain imaging studies in chronic users tend to show some consistent alterations, but their connection to impaired cognitive functioning is far from clear. This uncertainty may stem from confounding factors such as other drug use, residual drug effects, or withdrawal symptoms in long-term chronic users.

Addictive Potential

Long-term marijuana abuse can lead to addiction; that is, compulsive drug seeking and abuse despite the known harmful effects upon functioning in the context of family, school, work, and recreational activities. Estimates from research suggest that about 9 percent of users become addicted to marijuana; this number increases among those who start young (to about 17 percent) and among daily users (25-50 percent).
Long-term marijuana abusers trying to quit report withdrawal symptoms including: irritability, sleeplessness, decreased appetite, anxiety, and drug craving, all of which can make it difficult to remain abstinent. These symptoms begin within about 1 day following abstinence, peak at 2-3 days, and subside within 1 or 2 weeks following drug cessation.3

Marijuana and Mental Health

A number of studies have shown an association between chronic marijuana use and increased rates of anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia. Some of these studies have shown age at first use to be an important risk factor, where early use is a marker of increased vulnerability to later problems. However, at this time, it is not clear whether marijuana use causes mental problems, exacerbates them, or reflects an attempt to self-medicate symptoms already in existence.
Chronic marijuana use, especially in a very young person, may also be a marker of risk for mental illnesses - including addiction - stemming from genetic or environmental vulnerabilities, such as early exposure to stress or violence. Currently, the strongest evidence links marijuana use and schizophrenia and/or related disorders.4 High doses of marijuana can produce an acute psychotic reaction; in addition, use of the drug may trigger the onset or relapse of schizophrenia in vulnerable individuals.

What Other Adverse Effect Does Marijuana Have on Health?

Effects on the Heart

Marijuana increases heart rate by 20-100 percent shortly after smoking; this effect can last up to 3 hours. In one study, it was estimated that marijuana users have a 4.8-fold increase in the risk of heart attack in the first hour after smoking the drug.5 This may be due to increased heart rate as well as the effects of marijuana on heart rhythms, causing palpitations and arrhythmias. This risk may be greater in aging populations or in those with cardiac vulnerabilities.

Effects on the Lungs

Numerous studies have shown marijuana smoke to contain carcinogens and to be an irritant to the lungs. In fact, marijuana smoke contains 50-70 percent more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than tobacco smoke. Marijuana users usually inhale more deeply and hold their breath longer than tobacco smokers do, which further increase the lungs' exposure to carcinogenic smoke. Marijuana smokers show dysregulated growth of epithelial cells in their lung tissue, which could lead to cancer;6 however, a recent case-controlled study found no positive associations between marijuana use and lung, upper respiratory, or upper digestive tract cancers.7 Thus, the link between marijuana smoking and these cancers remains unsubstantiated at this time.
Nonetheless, marijuana smokers can have many of the same respiratory problems as tobacco smokers, such as daily cough and phlegm production, more frequent acute chest illness, and a heightened risk of lung infections. A study of 450 individuals found that people who smoke marijuana frequently but do not smoke tobacco have more health problems and miss more days of work than nonsmokers.8 Many of the extra sick days among the marijuana smokers in the study were for respiratory illnesses.

Effects on Daily Life

Research clearly demonstrates that marijuana has the potential to cause problems in daily life or make a person's existing problems worse. In one study, heavy marijuana abusers reported that the drug impaired several important measures of life achievement, including physical and mental health, cognitive abilities, social life, and career status.9 Several studies associate workers' marijuana smoking with increased absences, tardiness, accidents, workers' compensation claims, and job turnover.

What Treatment Options Exist?

Behavioral interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy and motivational incentives (i.e., providing vouchers for goods or services to patients who remain abstinent) have shown efficacy in treating marijuana dependence. Although no medications are currently available, recent discoveries about the workings of the cannabinoid system offer promise for the development of medications to ease withdrawal, block the intoxicating effects of marijuana, and prevent relapse.
The latest treatment data indicate that in 2008 marijuana accounted for 17 percent of admissions (322,000) to treatment facilities in the United States, second only to opiates among illicit substances. Marijuana admissions were primarily male (74 percent), White (49 percent), and young (30 percent were in the 12-17 age range). Those in treatment for primary marijuana abuse had begun use at an early age: 56 percent by age 14.**

Is Marijuana Medicine?

The potential medicinal properties of marijuana have been the subject of substantive research and heated debate. Scientists have confirmed that the cannabis plant contains active ingredients with therapeutic potential for relieving pain, controlling nausea, stimulating appetite, and decreasing ocular pressure. Cannabinoid-based medications include synthetic compounds, such as dronabinol (Marinol®) and nabilone (Cesamet®), which are FDA approved, and a new, chemically pure mixture of plant-derived THC and cannabidiol called Sativex®, formulated as a mouth spray and approved in Canada and parts of Europe for the relief of cancer-associated pain and spasticity and neuropathic pain in multiple sclerosis.
Scientists continue to investigate the medicinal properties of THC and other cannabinoids to better evaluate and harness their ability to help patients suffering from a broad range of conditions, while avoiding the adverse effects of smoked marijuana.

How Widespread is Marijuana Abuse?

National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH)***

According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, in 2009, 16.7 million Americans aged 12 or older used marijuana at least once in the month prior to being surveyed, an increase over the rates reported in all years between 2002 and 2008. There was also a significant increase among youth aged 12-17, with current use up from 6.7 percent in 2008 to 7.3 percent in 2009, although this rate is lower than what was reported in 2002 (8.2 percent). Past-month use also increased among those 18-25, from 16.5 percent in 2008 to 18.1 percent in 2009.

Monitoring the Future Survey****

Results from the 2009 Monitoring the Future survey show, as in the past few years, a stall in the decline of marijuana use that began in the late 1990s among our Nation's youth. In 2009, 11.8 percent of 8th-graders, 26.7 percent of 10th-graders, and 32.8 percent of 12th-graders reported past-year use. In addition, perceived risk of marijuana use declined among 8th- and 10th-graders, and disapproval of marijuana use declined among 10th-graders. This is a concern because changes in attitudes and beliefs often drive changes in drug use.

Authors SELECTION WRITTEN BY POET DELANO JOHNSON VOCALS BY CALLIE JOHNSON

Authors SELECTION WRITTEN BY POET DELANO JOHNSON VOCALS BY CALLIE JOHNSON

Authors Selection Written By Poet Delano Johnson---------Recited by Callie Johnson
I gotta get some sleep, my body’s getting weak.
Spilling out my soul with this ink.
The life of a author, somebody said like a promise, it was to be sweet.
After my first page, my pen begin to leak, metaphorically speaking I guess.
But literally the problem’s begin to speak.
New characters were introduced to me, and honestly I would not write about them if my interest it did not peak.
But I got to get some sleep.
Or maybe just a few more lines, I need to make one more thought complete.
Don’t worry I will avoid the ink and just push a few keys.
Real or fantasy, now I just cant tell the difference, this ho is becoming me,
it was as if I picked those orange hills out
because my pimp told me it would make me stand out on the streets.
I think tomorrow I will be a drug dealer and teach a young man how to hide his dope and load his heat.
I think I will start the scene in the middle of some beef, gun shots ring out, that same boy is now laying bloody in the streets.
The next chapter I will be inspiring words so intelligent and strong. I will make the world follow me.
These words I pull out the air some dark memories, others are attached to my soul.
Sometimes I have to apologize to my family because my pen begins to over heat.
Kindles to the flame ,when I think about all those times I did not speak and the world grabbed a muscle and silenced me.
Even though so many words in my mind was trying to break free
I gave in to pressure of my friends but like fate I stumbled upon that magical pen
And I swear I wrote the most beautiful words that are ever known to man.

But I got to get some sleep or do I have to wake up?
So many pages I’m already writing my 3rd book.
I was alone all night but my pen made love to 3 married housewives, and one was white.
Something’s not right, these words are coming out, things that I know I don’t even fantasize about, but some body told me when its real your words will come alive..
Someday I will perform live and some lost girl will break down and cry, promise me a complete stranger, that because of my words she will begin to change her life.
That must have been what he meant, because as long as that little boy that reads my words lives, then I will stay alive, I mean my words will never die.
And in that case let me write a children’s book, they are the only ones smart enough to read the same words 100 times, until they over understand every line………….
